There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven, which are an abomination to him. Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run to evil, A false witness who utter lies, And one who spread strife among brothers. Proverbs 6: 16-19.
But are these the only things the Lord hate? Surely The Lord of Proverbs must hate professed Christians who ignore the word of Jesus Christ and are puffed up about their own beliefs in their moral superiority, but do not appreciate the worth of The Lord's other human creations.
Can The Lord take pleasure in a person who does not manifest and take pleasure in a morality based on civility, justice, and an affirmation of the inalieanble human right to personal freedom, personal dignity, and the pursuit of happiness?
Is it possible that The Lord hates those people who think that the only people The Lord Hates are the people they hate? Can The Lord really find favor in people who think He will forgive stupidity, arrogance, war, rape, oppression of women, oppression of the poor and oppression of the different--just because it is done in His Name?
Why is it that people who are most vocal and most active in denying another person or another group their personal freedom, their personal rights, and their personal dignity feel that they are most loved by God? Could this be another thing that The Lord Hates?
What do you think? How many other things do you believe The Lord Hates?
Does The Lord hate politicians who work to deny Affordable Health Care to ordinary people, especially the poor, working class, and middle class citizens. Does The Lord hate politicians who woud not use Medicaid funds to provide healthcare for the common good, but who thought it was OK to commit fraud to secure medicare for corporate profit?
Does the Lord hate Christians who profess brotherly love and love of Jesus Christ but are content to have Native Americans endure a dismal existence on Indian Reservations?
Behaviors defined by Proverbs 6: 16 - 19 cover a multitude of sins. but the list becomes much longer than the seven in Proverbs when we think about it.
