Recently I received a letter from Mitt Romney saying he was running for President of the United States because he believed in America. Unfortunately the letter is full of emotional platitudes, patriotic slogans, and gleaming generalities that contradict everything we have heard him say in real time an what what we have seen caught on camera. And it is fairly obvious to anyone willing to pay attention that Mr Romney isn't running for president because he believes in America. He is running for president simply because he wants to be president.
Many of the Facts About Mitt Romney are disturbing and detrimental to America and the American people. Click on the link above to read 99 facts you may not know about Mitt Romney.
His comments are especially damning and in opposition to the well-being of most Americans when he thinks only his rich friends and wealthy donors are listening. By his own admission, caught on camera for all to see, he has absolute disdain for 47% of the American public. He said he doesn't care about 47% of the American public because they don't pay federal income taxes, conveniently ignoring the fact that most of these same people pay payroll taxes and sales taxes. Many of the rest are on active duty in the military and by law don't have to pay federal taxes. Mitt Romney thinks that is wrong and that, even though they risk their lives to serve and protect America, these military men and women are moochers because they don't pay federal taxes.
How can Mr Mitt Romney really "believe in America" when he is the face of a Republican Party that has done and propose to do so much that is detrimental to America and to Americans? This includes but is not limited to...
I. A Republican party that blocked the American Jobs Act--an act proposed by President Barack Obama that would 1. Create at least 2 million new jobs, including police, firefighters, teachers, construction, and high tech. 2. Offer tax credits to businesses hiring veterans. 3 Provide a $1500 tax cut for the average American family. 4. Modernize public schools. 5. Raise capital for small businesses.
II. A Republican party that blocked and killed the Veteran's Job Bill in the Senate that would have provided funds over five years to help veterans find work in their communities. Republicans were all too willing to spend billions to fight Bush's war against unfounded WMDs in Iraq but are vehemently opposed to providing jobs and assistance to those military men and women who fought that war and who fought and are fighting in the Afghan war.
III. A Republican Party that became obstructionist in their attempt to "make sure" that President Obama failed "even if it means America fails". As a result, the GOP, used obstructionist rules and strategy to create a gridlock that disabled both federal and state governments where neither could perform their congressional duties and moral obligations which is to provide for the civil rights, protection, and empowerment of all American--men, women, and children--equally without regard to income, sex, ethnicity, or any other profile.
IV. A Republican platform that defines conservation as a process where our beautiful pristine National Parks and public land "could be better used for ranching, mining, or forestry through private ownership". This the very opposite of conservation and gives away public owership to the corporate and private ownership of greedy individuals and greedy corporations--while they let the American public be damned.
V. A Republican plan to kill medicare and replace it with a voucher system, a system that does not guarantee coverage. Corporations will decide what is to be covered under their health care option.
VI. A Republican plan to dismantle Social Security or to privatize Social Security--the latter designed to reward Wall Street Brokers to the detriment of senior citizens.
VII. A Romney-Ryan plan to eliminate Pell Grants for more that 1 million low income students, thereby robbing America of some of its brightest talents and future contributors to the best of America.
VIII. A Republican plan to privatize public schools, both public elementary and secondary schools--where teachers will be paid less salary with fewer benefits and corporations will make enormous profits to the detriment of our children.
IX. A Romney-Ryan plan to cut taxes for the rich while increasing them on working class Americans.
X. Romney claims he wants to eliminate big government because it spends too much. But Romney-Ryan is willing to give $40 Billion in subsidies to BiG OiL.
Mitt Romney doesn't believe in America. He believes in Rich America, the so-called 1%. Mitt Romney is running for president because he likes the idea of being president just as he like the idea of greed and consumption by the wealthy. And if "you people" don't get that, then "you people" and your children will suffer the consequences.
