If God is real and Jesus Christ is His only begotten son, then avowed christians on the religious right won't be getting into heaven. On the surface this may seem an audacious statement that questions the existence of God and questions a central tenet of Christianity. It does not.
But it does raise the question of whether or not people who call themselves Christians and who embrace the Antichrist rhetoric and the Antichrist policies of the conservative right in fact live the Christian life taught by the one they proclaim is their Lord and Savior, Jesus christ.
The weightier question here is this. What guides the morality and moral beliefs of the religious right? Is a Jesus morality and a Bible morality of the prophets a prophetic mirror to your Christian moral beliefs? Do you live by the moral values that the prophets warned and a Jesus morality that The Christ taught? Or do you simply proclaim your Bible morality as a parrot repeats without conviction, the words of its master?
Do you embrace, repeat, and sometimes shout the rhetoric of the party that slashes programs designed to keep women and all Americans healthy, educated, free, and safe from legal bigotry, and corporate abuse? Have you ignored the fact that the party who claim the loudest that they are the most moral and the most responsible to the American people spew language that is filled with hate, division, and strife, and a willingness to propose and pass legislation and record unjust decisions, so as to deprive the needy of justice, and rob the poor workingclass and working middleclass of God's people of their rights?
This is in contrast to the words of the prophet Isaiah who foretold the coming of The Messiah: "Woe to those who enact evil statues, And to those who constantly record unjust decisions, So as to deprive the needy of justice, And rob the poor of my people of their rights."
How can a real Christian hear the voices of the conservative right revel in lies and deceit in support of hate, division and strife and think that God and Jesus Christ are not offended by the use of Their Names to support such behavior?
The North Carolina preacher, who railed in his sermons that LGBT citizens in the USA should be killed, exemplifies the moral depravity of the religious right. Surely, The Living Christ did not and does not condone murder. But this preacher blasphemed God by saying that "christians" of his vile moral ilk have a right to kill professed LGBT because their lifestyle is against God--as if God needs his puny little hands to eradicate anything God could do alone if that were His wont.
So we are left to believe that if the words of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ does not prevent "false christians" from being racist homophobics, what chance do the rest of us have for preventing false christians on the right from such Antichrist behavior? They insist on their own doom.
As Christ said: "Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrits, as it is written, 'This people honor me with lips, but their heart is far away from me. But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrine the precepts of men. Neglecting the commandments of God you hold onto the tradition of men."
If you claim to be a Christian, then you must be like Christ. Nothing else matters. Otherwise, what are you except what Christ despised--a viper and a hypocrite? And if you want to be like Christ, remember that Jesus was a liberal who rebelled against the controlling abuse of conservatives of his time on Earth. Jesus Christ was a liberal who healed the sick and fed the hungry. Best of all, he did it without displaying hostility, incivility, and an arrogant air of superiority.
Selah.
