On The Suicidal Tendencies of The Conservative Poor Working Class

Americans are fond of saying that we are getting smarter. However, the seemingly suicidal attraction many poor working-class white christians have for the Republican Party belie that belief. It is incomprehensible that the aforementioned group would support a group led by wealthy men who only support policies that lead to more wealth for the rich to the detriment of everyone else.

Furthermore, this blind obedience to a repressive party leads these same people to hate and spew venom at the Democrat Party and a President who work the most to help them.

One of the fascinating characteristics of some  humans is the need to love and protect their abusers. Women who identify with the policies of GOP Conservatives do not believe that right-wing Republicans in state and federal legislatures are engaged in an assault on women. They seem incapable of recognizing policies fostered by Republican politicians that deny women the right to personal freedom, personal dignity, and personal choices about their sexual health.

Where Republicans control local, state, and federal  law-making bodies, the social and economic welfare of working-class Americans and their children suffer--indiscriminately of race, sex, religious belief, or ethnic background. And before you get all riled up about the use of the word welfare  and start spewing GOP talking points about the abuses in welfare, welfare is not a bad word. It is a bad word hands of politicians who demonize everything good for poor and not-so-poor working class citizens who are not wealthy.

Welfare is "the state of doing well, esp in respect to good fortune, happiness, well-being, or prosperity."-Merriam-Webster's Collegiate DictionaryEleventh Edition. And even though it also means supplying aid to citizens in need, that doesn't make it a bad thing even if many of our governmant agencies can and should be made more efficient.

And yet, many Americans who need and accept welfare assistance from both local, state, and federal government services will vote for Republican candidates who would get rid of all public assistance if they could.

A political party that claims not to believe in evolution does in fact appear to believe in natural selection and survival of the fittest. Thus, anyone--white, black; male, female;  Anglo, Latino; young or old--who cannot make it on their own should die and go away.

Right wing conservative policies short range and long range view is to wreck the tax structure so badly that government cannot help the poor and needy members of the working class. And if the country is destroyed in the process, don't worry, they will be alright. They will simply stay in their special enclaves, protected from the suffering hoards by para-military forces who will kill you if you threaten their masters. Or they will simply move to another country where they don't have to deal with you.

But I digress. The truth is, in America You have a right to vote for whomever you choose--even for those who behave as if they hate you. And don't worry, the children of wealthy politician, pundits, and corporate predators will do just fine even after their parents have destroyed every system and agency that protect you and your children.

At least you will have the comfort of knowing you got what you deserved. You will not, however, be able to say that about your children.

Black Christians Should Know Better Than To Discriminate

In 2004 I received a frantic call from an ex-girlfriend who had become a converted christian in mid-life. She called to urge me to vote for George Bush to help insure that John Kerry didn't become president. She specifically wanted to warn me that if Kerry became president the USA would in effect go-to-hell because a Kerry Presidency would let gays get married and make us a God-forsaken country.

That message reverberated loudly in the black church in 2004. It was especially prominent in those congregations where Black ministers were on the Republican payroll to spread the fear of the "evil onslaught of John Kerry and gay marriage". In doing so, many Black ministers in black churches encouraged their congregations to vote against their best interest. They chose to ignore the fact that voting against their best interest was  a much bigger problem for all members of the black church and for non-church going Black Americans than it was for their white counterparts who did the same thing for the same reasons.

Eight years later, in 2012, some Black Christians and Black churches were still struggling with the same issue of equality for LBGT citizens of these United States of America. They have become vexed and frustrated over President Barack Obama's open support of marriage for same sex couples. And it raises the question: when your religion gets in the way of common sense, can your religion be good for you?

Black Christians, more than any other Americans, with the possible exception of our Native American Brothers and Sisters, should know better than to discriminate against any group of people-even when it's done in the name of God and Religion.

The concept of "hate the sin, love the sinner" has too many emotional and intellectual holes in it to justify any Christian behavior. If you hate the sin, then don't do the sin; and treat everyone equal under the law. That is real Christianity, because that is what Jesus would do.

 In the name of Jesus and Christianity, Black Christians need to get it right. You simply can't use religion and the Bible to justify denying any group, including LBGT of their civil rights. If you can, and if you do, then slavery was O.K., too. "It's in the Bible." And during slavery and the days of Jim Crow, many white "Christians "raised the bible and shouted hallelujahs in the name of God and Jesus Christ even as they lynched black men and raped black women for no better reason than it seemed to be the right thing to do at the time.

Be careful Black Christians, don't stay away from the polls or be willing to discriminate against those desiring gay marriage, simply because you believe your president refuse to discriminate against a group you believe sin against God and because you believe gay marriage is a sin against God. Discrimination against any group is a sin against God. And it is not Christian. If you are not sure about that, then stop quoting Paul and go back and read the four Gospels--and remember the words of The Christ whose name you raise and shout on Sundays. Jesus Christ did not discriminate and hate in the name of God because to do so is simply ungodly and not Christian.

As members of major American Sports teams make the decision to come out and live their lives as openly gay professional athletes, one wonders what the response will be from most Americans. We have a better idea of the response from christians on the conservative right. They likely will treat openly gay athletes the same as they treat everyone in the LGBT community.

Pastor Charles Worley of Providence Road Baptist church in North Carolina  preached that LBGT should be rounded up and detained in an electrified compound until they all die ( http://www.rawstory.com, May 23, 2012). This vile diatribe, from the pulpit no less, exemplify the moral depravity of the Not-So Christian right.

Likely he received a big "A-men!" from his congregration when he said "The Bible is against it, God is against it, I'm against it." Likely, he received thunderous applause and laughter when he continued: "...and you know what, in a few years they'll die out. You know why? They Can't reproduce!"--with the last three words likely resulting in a standing ovation. To everyone who believes they have a God-given right to  kill or otherwise victimize anyone who doesn't share their vile morality of hate, venom, and mayhem we remind you of the following.

1. Anytime you feel righteously and morally compelled to deny another individual or group of their civil rights, their personal freedom, and their personal dignity, it is because you believe it will never happen to you. However, the next time you feel so inclined, search your memory, your Bible, or your city library, if you have one, for the long list of humans who have been exiled, denied, imprisoned, enslaved, "cleansed", tortured, killed, or "exterminated" by their own kind. Too much evil is done in the name of God.

2. Neither God nor your "Lord and savior" Jesus Christ advocates murder just because you disagree with someone else's lifestyle. God may justify personal and national defense against an aggressor who violates personal and national security. But Jesus Christ was a liberal who loved all people without discrimination. The Christ would never condone a pre-emptive strike against another human being just because you disagreed with his or her personal beliefs. And The Christ never suggested or said that a member of the LGBT community was doomed to Hell.

3. God does not need mortal assassins to murder--either in His Name or for any other reason--other humans whose behavior are a threat to no one.

4. Repeating the mantra; "It's in the Bible" is not a moral justification for murder and other vile acts of immorality. The member of Pastor Worley's church who proclaimed:"The Bible says they are worthy of death. He is preaching God's Word." , should know that even if they may be worthy of death, it is not by our or your hands.

You do not have a moral right, a natural right, or  a God-given right to do that.

Fortunately, Americans in increasing numbers are rejecting the belief that men and women-only some of who are athletes- who "come out" do not deserve murder, disrespect, hate, violence, and a violation of their civil rights. It is their right to be who they are born to be. It is not the right of hatemongers, many of whom hide behind religion and The Bible, to make that decision for them.

Advocates of hate, violence, and murder on and for gays and other LGBT are not Christians as taught by the liberal Jesus Christ. Nor is it moral superiority or sexual superiority. It is a moral bog. And if the Bible these haters quote is correct, it is a one-way ticket to Hell.

Does Racist Logic Threatens Justice In Trayvon Martin's Murder?

The answers to the questions below are obvious. I'll ask them anyway. Suppose  a 28 year-old armed Black Man stalks a 17-year old white kid in his father's neighborhood in Sanford, Florida. He stalks the kid within striking distance and the kid fights back  to defend himself from what is obviously a scary black man. But the Black Man Stands His Ground, shoots and kills the white teenager.

Is the black Man arrested on the spot and taken to jail? Would the prosecution have difficulty proving to a jury in Sanford,Florida that the Black Man acted with malice? Absolutely Not! That Black Man is going to prison for a very long time! Truth is, in Florida,if he were a black woman he would get 20 years just for shooting the white ceiling in his own home to scare off someone who was threatening him. C3ME3MKVG42Z

Yet, we are to believe that an armed white George Zimmerman who stalked and murdered an unarmed black child acted in self-defense. One is led to believe that the Stand Your Ground Law was designed to protect white men from prosecution against killing young black boys who white men believe are up to no good.

An article in the Miami Herald, Sunday May 20, 2012 suggested that the prosecution in the State Vs. Zimmerman will have a difficult time proving that George Zimmerman acted with malice when he murdered Trayvon Martin. the article suggest that the evidence makes it difficult to prove. But the facts don't.

We'll see how the fact in Trayvon Martin's Case play out in Sanford, Florida. We'll see whether racist logic and small town racist politics threatens justice in Trayvon Martin's Murder.

No Biological Excuse for Bullys & Rapists

Sexual Predators,rapists, a lack of civility, boorish behavior, rudeness, bombastic pontification, and wild aggression is likely caused by three things--none of which are caused by the male hormone...None of which are desirable...A Lack of Intelligence, A Lack Of Critical Thinking, and/or A Lack Of Discipline.

But some would have us believe that war, rape, and male aggression is caused by the "presence of sin"  and that sin is at the root of all our social ills.

Some even suggest that liberal minded thinkers (who are possessed with the intelligence and the grace to be civil to all people regardless of their sexual, religious, or ethnic orientation) is the root cause of our social problems. Pat Robertson blames the Boston Marathon Bombings on acceptance of liberals and the gay community. There is no biological reason for making that statement. What thinking man would ever make that statement?

Some men believe they have a biological right and are entitled to the sexual services of some woman, any woman, whenever they desire it. Really? What are we? Animals. Yes, of course we are. But supposedly we are thinking animals, at least at a level we believe to be superior to all other animals. 

Some men believe they have a right to anything they want, even if they have to steal it or take it by force. Your land, your money, your woman, your self-respect, your right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But, even lower animals kill only for what they need--food and especially when their young are threatened. If humans operated on biological instincts we would do the same. But we don't.

So men who have brawn but lack intelligence and the ability to be rational for the good of humankind; and men who are immoral because they are greedy and are not critical thinkers; and men who lack discipline are the root cause of most of our social problems. There are no biological excuses for the evil men do--especially to women and to the living planet we call Earth.
